Homestead Preserve represents 11,500 acres of pristine mountain and valley landscape between Hot Springs and Warm Springs in Bath County , Virginia . The land originally served as a natural protective buffer for The Homestead resort , much of it being mountainous terrain with thick glades of hardwoods and evergreens . Today , 9,250 acres belong to The Nature Conservancy — a parcel known as Warm Springs Mountain Preserve . The remaining 2,300 acres comprises seven affiliated parcels around the base of Warm Springs Mountain and The Homestead Resort . In tandem with The Nature Conservancy ’ s and the Virginia Outdoors Foundation ’ s conservation holdings , The Homestead Preserve is dedicated to keeping alive the natural and human heritage of this landscape .
Parcels range between 0.5 and ten acres with homes located alongside the meadows , in the forests and on the mountainside .
